LEADers & buddies

First off thank you for just coming to this page first and having your interest peaked. We are always seeking out great equestrian leaders within our community who have great knowledge and experience to share with our budding equestrians of the future. Below is a description of what it means to be a leader and/or buddy to the Kenosha County 4-H Horse Project.

LEADERS & VOLUNTEERS

As leaders we want to come up with creative ways to educate our members on vary facets pertaining to horses. It could be a trivia game where a question is provided and they answer electronically while competing against one another, they could get the feel of performing various types of patterns with a stick horse, spinning around with their on a bat and then running to point out a particular piece of anatomy, etc. We look for fresh ideas on where to take field trips to an event, focus on a breed, or a discipline. If it is horse related we are pretty much game. We also want to help create leaders too with our members therefore why our project is primarily run by the youth with the encouragement and guidance of the adult leaders. If this sounds like your cup of tea please register at 4HONLINE.COM.

BUDDIES

buddies

Buddies are a very important part of our project. We look to our horse community to take on a youth member who does not have their own horse to help educate that member on not only horse ownership but everything else that is learned along the way like equipment, aliments, feeding, vehicles, disciplines, etc. Essentially you are passing along your knowledge to the new up and coming equestrian and taking them on an awesome journey that they will remember for the rest of their lives. You also give them the opportunity to be up front and personal with your horse(s). Something many members long for. Many members will be pleased as punch just pet and groom your horse. Others will have a strong desire to ride. It will be your judgement call on the level of involvement the member will have with your horse with consideration of the members goals they'd like to achieve. We ask that all buddies register as leaders on WI.4HONLINE.COM. This is for the safety of the member and yourself. Please see our reference guide for more information.

As you begin your approval process via 4HONLINE.COM please tell us a little bit about yourself so we can pair you accordingly with one of our members. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

MEETINGS

Everyone is welcome to our meetings. We do encourage our buddies to attend our countywide meetings especially the April meeting* as it covers the Kenosha County Fair and the superintendents speak and answer any questions you might have. Also we expect our leaders to attend meetings as well not only to be in the loop but also to set an example.

*could change as seen fit.
