Rain, rain go away! We need the ground to dry up, sunshine and warm breezes! May is here and that leads us to our activities kicking into a higher gear. When it is nice outside we can do more.

PONY POINTS AUDIT
You've received communication regarding our audit as a check in to see if members are on track and are tracking well. With fair deadlines approaching it is important to make sure all our members who are wanting to exhibit fair are a member in good standing. Please reference our Pony Point thread on our "blog." It should answer all your questions. At this time the following have turned in their points sheet for review.
Billingsley
Falk
Mizwicki, A.
Mizwicki, K
Mrowka
Siver
Szpylman
Vanderpool
One thing I will mention that although the fair states the deadline for entries is June 30 your club may be earlier than that. Use your club's deadline as your deadline to get your points in. Each club is different.
Project T-Shirts
T-shirts will be available for pick up at the countywide meeting.
Volunteer Opportunity to Make Money for Our Project
Received a message regarding working the corn booth at the Wisconsin State Fair. Here is what I was told. “The Lions Club are looking for people / clubs to volunteer at the corn booth at the State Fair. You would get a free ticket in the fair plus the club gets paid for every hour each person works.” She believes it would be $6 per. hour. The shifts are six hours. They provide shuttles to from the park and ride.
If you are interested please let me know and I will send you the contact information. This would need to be done as a group and will require 5-6 people to sign up. You would collectively be working together at the same time period and day. Just like you do at the pizza booth at the fair.
New Leadership Team
We will be electing the new youth leadership team for the 2022-2023 calendar year at our August Meeting. Please consider signing up to be on our leadership team. The team is the grease that keeps the wheels moving for our project. Feel free to speak to current team and get their feedback. Parents we encourage you to encourage your youth to apply. It is a good learning experience. The youth attend our leadership meetings and provide input and ideas on meetings and activities also there thoughts on situations and how to handle things, etc. They also run our countywide meetings too.
Leadership meetings are the first Wednesday of every month from 6:45pm to 8pm. Please have applications in by Thursday, July 21, 2022.

We will be having the clothing items available at the May Countywide Meeting. First come first serve.
As far the clothes go she pulled out the best items of the lot which include hunt coats and Ultrasuede chaps. I do not know sizes at the moment.
Be an Amigo to a Buckaroo
We are still looking for a few seasoned members to help new members navigate the waters of the horse project and be their go to person when they have questions.
COMMITTEE REPORT>>>
We still have some committee items that could use some help getting off the ground or picked up and ran with. If you can help out with any please let us know.
Clinics - Ms. Moran
We have discussed and Ms. Moran is going to see what she can do to get a few on the calendar for this year. Clinics are different from workouts as clinics usually are a full day with the morning session being beginner/intermediate levels and afternoon being the more advanced riders.
Wednesday Night Workouts - Ms. Szplyman
No new updates at this time.
Workouts are every Wednesday evening beginning June 15 at the fairgrounds pending weather and begin in June through August before fair. Youth get a group lesson from very experienced amateurs to professional trainers with their horse. Workouts begin at 6 PM - 8Pm.
Gymkhana Workouts / Clinics - OPEN
No change/update - We have not received word from anyone at this time that they are participating in gymkhana. So we will assume that there is not a need at this time.
Gymkhana is for managerial members who go fast and run the timed speed events such as barrel racing, poles, flags, etc.
Mini Camp - Ms. Ellis
Save the date for June 24-25 at the Kenosha County fairgrounds. Itinerary is in the works and hope to share with you at the May meeting along with a sign up sheet.
Public Open Horse Show - Ms. Stalter, Ms. Mizwicki, Ms. Szplyman
Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers are needed to help make this show a success. Will need help from gatekeepers, awards distribution, the office, and food booth. Please reach out to Ms. Stalter, Mizwicki or Ms. Szplyman if you can help. They have a good portion of things completed and a few things to wrap up such as finalizing entry forms and other paperwork.
Pre-Fair Horse Show - Ms. Moran
Lindsey Weber will be our judge. The fair dress rehearsal will take place at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 31. This horse show is OPEN to EVERYONE within our project. There are no prerequisites for this show.
Model Horse - OPEN
Volunteers needed to launch this project. Educate youth on model horses and showing. In addition, just enjoying the hobby and possibly making things for your horses and learning about horses through the model horse.
Horse Judging - Ms. Zimmer
Provided an introduction to horse judging. She took names at the last meeting of who would like to take part in this activity. Next steps is to setup study times and other activities.
Horse Bowl / Hippology - Ms. Stich & Ms. Vanderpool
A short presentation was given by Ava on behalf of her mom on what horse bowl consists of. We do have some plans in mind for this activity so stay posted.
Field Trips & Activities - Ms. Mizwicki
June 4 is the date for the Scott Golladay Stables activity/field trip. A formal and separate email did go out for this event. Please see here if you missed it.
We have discussed a slew of other activities to fill the summer with too. One activity that we discussed was the Cowgirl Challenge happening on May 14 at the Walworth County Fairgrounds. Although we will not be coordinating a group effort at this moment we do encourage you to check it out if you can. You can earn pony points at this event by attending and filling out the evaluation form regarding it. It will require a representative signature or if you take a photo of yourself at the event that will probably suffice too. During this event you will see cattle sorting, team penning of cattle, and barrel racing. It is a free event to the spectator. Get more information here. A horse show put on by the Walworth Co. Boots & Saddle Club will be happening at the same time as well. Lots to see.
Horseless Horse - Ms. Schmid
No change/update.
If you haven't filled out your buddy status please do so. This means letting us know if you need a buddy and if you have a buddy and that information.

OUR PROGRAMS >>>
Pony Points
The Pony Points program is a tool to encourage participation from our members in more ways than one so that you get more out of the project. It is more than just satisfying the status of being a member in good standing to exhibit your equine partner at the fair. It should drive you to do more within the project and expand your horizons with the opportunity to be rewarded at the end of the year for your efforts. All the elements on our pony points form not only further your equine education, but also provides valuable life skills like dedication, commitment, leadership, public speaking, team work, critical thinking, planning, budgeting, spending, decision making, and volunteering to name a few.
Bring your annual sheet with you to every meeting and keep it in your horse project binder in case you have questions, forgot to fill it out, need help filling it out, etc.
Merit Program
The merit program is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about horses and ponies. It was developed to help you learn independently and has qualities of the Girl Scout badges.
Members will learn a ton by utilizing and participating in this program. This program in some respects can double and triple dip into your Pony Points yearly sheet to help you become not only a member in good standing but also aid in your overall points for the year towards awards.
